By Moonia, My visit to the Stone house
Room 2 visited the Stone house at Panmure yesterday. We wanted to learn what people used in the past.
I saw an old washing machine. You had to move the long handle back and forth to make the washing clean. I tried to move the handle but it was hard. I saw lots of old things like an old iron and an old huge bible.
I enjoyed my visit.

By Augustine, Making Home-made Ice-cream
Home-made Vanilla Ice-cream
Room 1 and Room 2 made vanilla ice-cream on Wednesday in Room 2 because we are learning how to turn liquid into a solid.
First we poured the evaporated milk, sugar and vanilla essence into the bowl. Then we whipped it up with an electric beater until it became creamy. After that we put it in the freezer to set. We ate it. It tasted delicious and creamy. It tasted like the ice-cream from the New World.
I am excited because now I know how to make home-made ice-cream.

Ice Skating! By Deijahn
Ice Skating
On Saturday my family and I went to the Ice Skating in the city.
First I put on my ice skating shoes. Then I went on the ice. The ice was slippery and cold. I used a Frame to stop me from falling. I went around in a circle. It was fun.
We all had a great time.

In Room 2 we are learning to write a simple instructional text.
First we talked about action verbs and nouns. We recorded lots of actions verbs and nouns.
Then the children looked at the photos of themselves making homemade ice-cream at the end of Term 1. They talked about each photo. I recorded them and then asked the children to match the labels to the drawings.
After that the children were asked to organise the photos in order. They did well. The illustration of their work is shown above.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next learning was showing the children how to write a set of instructions
- The children looked at an example of instructional writing
- We looked at the structure: Title, materials or ingredients: You will need, Method or sequence of steps
- Children were asked to name the verbs in each step. They did well. They looked at our displayed of verbs chart.
Finally we wrote the instructions of making homemade ice- cream together using prepared scaffolds.
This is our set of instructions, shown below.
